Stellar Development

Maurice Opstal has more than 15 years of experience in the construction industry.

Growing up in Miami, in a family of Architects and Contractors, has allowed

Maurice to learn the business from the ground up. He graduated from Auburn

University with a degree in Building Science and began his professional career

with DooleyMack Constructors. While at DooleyMack, Maurice was chairman of

the Safety Committee and the Mentor Program. He was instrumental in recruiting

young talented professionals to work for the company. He was employed by

DooleyMack for over 11 years, primarily working on multi-story buildings. He soon

created a niche for doing Hotel Projects, in which repeat clients required that he be

part of the construction team. He has earned several ABC “Excellence in Construction”

awards and hotel Marriott “Opening of the Year” awards.

In 2007 he departed DooleyMack and opened Stellar Development, a full service

construction company he founded in 1999. He teamed up with financial partners

Michael Doyle and John Newsome of SMG Property Management to further

strengthen the back bone of his company. The vision for Stellar is to assist clients

in every aspect of the construction project, whether Stellar is the contractor,

the owner's representative or the consultant, Maurice wants to provide a service

to each and every client which exceeds their expectations.
